Your privacy is important to General Motors Company (“GM” or “we”) as is your trust in GM’s products and services. We want you to know that the information you share with us will be treated with care. This Texting Policy addresses how you may opt-in and opt-out of text messages initiated by GM and applicable terms.

GM CONSOLIDATED TEXTING POLICY (“TEXTING POLICY”)

This “Texting Policy” applies to your use of GM text message programs (collectively "Texting Services") provided by General Motors (in the United States, General Motors Company U.S.; in Canada, General Motors of Canada Company) (“us”, “our” and “we”), and together with any other terms and conditions that apply, constitutes a legally binding agreement between you and us. By using Texting Services, you agree to this Texting Policy.

SUPPORTED CARRIERS. Texting Services are available on most mobile phone carriers in the United States and Canada (which may change at any time without notice to you), including:

Other carriers and phone numbers outside of the United States and Canada are not currently supported.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

MESSAGE AND DATA RATES MAY APPLY. Message and data rates may apply in connection with your use of Texting Services. You are responsible for any applicable charges to your wireless account when you opt-in for Texting Services.

MESSAGING FREQUENCY. Message frequency may vary based on the Texting Services you opt-in to receive.

TO OPT-IN TO RECEIVE CUSTOMER SUPPORT TEXT MESSAGES IN THE UNITED STATES. You may receive customer support text messages by texting "Y", or “Yes” to the following:

  • 23689 or 87491 for GM Customer Care
  • 24389 for Chevrolet Customer Care
  • 28425 for Buick Customer Care
  • 22332 for Cadillac Customer Care
  • 462898 for GMC Customer Care
  • 66787 for OnStar Customer Care


By texting any of the above listed short codes from your mobile number, you authorize us or those acting on our behalf to send text messages using an automatic telephone dialing system to your mobile telephone number provided to us. This is not required as a condition to conduct business with us. 

When you opt-in by texting any of the above listed short codes, you are also confirming that you are able to receive and review this Texting Policy and print or electronically retain a copy for your records. If you are not the primary account holder for the mobile telephone that you are using to enroll for Texting Services, you confirm that you are authorized to, and do, consent on behalf of the account holder to receive messages.

TO OPT-IN TO RECEIVE CUSTOMER SUPPORT TEXT MESSAGES IN CANADA. You may receive customer support text messages by consenting online or texting "Y", or “Yes” to 668677 (GM Canada Support) to opt-in. By texting 668677 from your mobile number, you authorize us or those acting on our behalf to send text messages using an automatic telephone dialing system to your mobile telephone number provided to us. This is not required as a condition to conduct business with us. 

When you opt-in by texting "Y", or “Yes” to 668677 (GM Canada Support) you are also confirming that you are able to receive and review this Texting Policy and print or electronically retain a copy for your records. If you are not the primary account holder for the mobile telephone that you are using to enroll for Texting Services, you confirm that you are authorized to, and do, consent on behalf of the account holder to receive messages.

TO OPT-IN TO RECEIVE INFORMATIONAL ONSTAR TEXT MESSAGES. You may opt-in to receive information about OnStar services by sending any of the following keywords to 56000:

  • “WIFI”
  • “Account”
  • “Mobile”
  • “Software”
  • “Chevrolet” or “myChevrolet”
  • “Buick” or “myBuick”
  • “Cadillac” or “myCadillac”
  • “myGMC”
  • “OnStar”
  • “Guardian”


By texting 56000 from your mobile number, you authorize us or those acting on our behalf to send text messages using an automatic telephone dialing system to your mobile telephone number provided to us. This is not required as a condition to conduct business with us.

When you opt-in by texting 56000, you are also confirming that you are able to receive and review this Texting Policy and print or electronically retain a copy for your records. If you are not the primary account holder for the mobile telephone that you are using to enroll for Texting Services, you confirm that you are authorized to, and do, consent on behalf of the account holder to receive messages.

TO OPT-IN TO RECEIVE TEXT MESSAGE NOTIFICATIONS ABOUT YOUR SERVICE REQUESTS AND PROMOTIONAL SERVICE AND PRODUCT OFFERS. You may opt-in to receive text message notifications about your service requests, such as appointment reminders, and including promotional service and product offers by consenting online or texting “IN”, “Y”, or “Yes” to 88411 or to 38687. By texting 88411 or 38687 from your mobile number, you authorize us or those acting on our behalf to send text messages, including marketing text messages, using an automatic telephone dialing system to your mobile telephone number provided to us. This is not required as a condition to conduct business with us. 

When you opt-in by texting “IN”, “Y”, or “Yes” to 88411 or to 38687, you are also confirming that you are able to receive and review this Texting Policy and print or electronically retain a copy for your records. If you are not the primary account holder for the mobile telephone that you are using to enroll for Texting Services, you confirm that you are authorized to, and do, consent on behalf of the account holder to receive messages.

TO OPT-IN TO RECEIVE CHEVROLET PROMOTIONAL TEXT MESSAGES REGARDING THE SILVERADO EV. You may opt-in to receive more information about the Silverado EV by consenting online or texting “IN”, “Y”, or “Yes” to 866-438-2439. By texting 866-438-2439 from your mobile number, you authorize us or those acting on our behalf to send marketing text messages using an automatic telephone dialing system to your mobile telephone number provided to us. This is not required as a condition to conduct business with us.  

When you opt-in by texting “IN”, “Y”, or “Yes” to 866-438-2439, you are also confirming that you are able to receive and review this Texting Policy and print or electronically retain a copy for your records. If you are not the primary account holder for the mobile telephone that you are using to enroll for Texting Services, you confirm that you are authorized to, and do, consent on behalf of the account holder to receive messages.

TO OPT-IN TO RECEIVE MY GM REWARDS PROMOTIONAL TEXT MESSAGES. You may opt-in receive promotional text message offers by consenting online or texting “IN”, “Y”, or “Yes” to 81500. By texting 81500 from your mobile number, you authorize us or those acting on our behalf to send marketing text messages using an automatic telephone dialing system to your mobile telephone number provided to us. This is not required as a condition to conduct business with us. 

When you opt-in by texting “IN”, “Y”, or “Yes” to 81500, you are also confirming that you are able to receive and review this Texting Policy and print or electronically retain a copy for your records. If you are not the primary account holder for the mobile telephone that you are using to enroll for Texting Services, you confirm that you are authorized to, and do, consent on behalf of the account holder to receive messages.

TO OPT-IN TO RECEIVE A DEALERSHIP REVIEW REQUEST. You may opt-in to receive a dealership review request by text message by consenting in-person or texting “IN”, "Y", or “Yes” to 812-613-4387. By texting 812-613-4387 from your mobile number, you authorize us or those acting on our behalf to send text messages using an automatic telephone dialing system to your mobile telephone number provided to us. This is not required as a condition to conduct business with us.  

When you opt-in by texting “IN”, "Y", or “Yes” to 812-613-4387, you are also confirming that you are able to receive and review this Texting Policy and print or electronically retain a copy for your records. If you are not the primary account holder for the mobile telephone that you are using to enroll for Texting Services, you confirm that you are authorized to, and do, consent on behalf of the account holder to receive messages.

TO OPT OUT, TEXT "STOP".  You may opt out of:

  • GM initiated Customer Support text messages in the United States at any time by texting STOP to 23689 (GM Customer Care) 87491 (GM Customer Care), 24389 (Chevrolet Customer Care), 28425 (Buick Customer Care), 22332 (Cadillac Customer Care), 462898 (GMC Customer Care), or 66787 (OnStar Customer Care)
  • GM initiated Customer Support text messages in Canada at any time by texting STOP to 668677
  • GM initiated Mobile App Download text messages at any time by texting STOP to 56000
  • GM initiated Service Request notifications and promotional text messages from 88411 at any time by texting STOP to 88411.
  • GM initiated Service Request notifications and promotional text messages from 38687 at any time by texting STOP to 38687.
  • GM initiated Chevrolet promotional text messages at any time by texting STOP to 866-438-2439.
  • GM initiated My GM Rewards promotional text messages at any time by texting STOP to 81500.
  • GM initiated Dealership Review Request text messages at any time by texting STOP to 812-613-4387.


TO RECEIVE HELP, OR SUPPORT, TEXT “HELP”

  • GM initiated Customer Support text messages in the United States by texting HELP to 23689 (GM Customer Care), 24389 (Chevrolet Customer Care), 28425 (Buick Customer Care), 22332 (Cadillac Customer Care), 462898 (GMC Customer Care), or 66787 (OnStar Customer Care)
  • GM initiated Customer Support text messages in Canada by texting HELP to 668677
  • GM initiated Service Request notifications and promotional text messages from 88411 at any time by texting HELP to 88411.
  • GM initiated Service Request notifications and promotional text messages from 38687 at any time by texting HELP to 38687.
  • GM initiated Chevrolet promotional text messages at any time by texting HELP to 866-438-2439.
  • GM initiated GM Rewards promotional text messages by texting HELP to 81500.
  • GM initiated Mobile App Download text messages by texting HELP to 56000.
  • GM initiated Dealership Review Request text messages at any time by texting HELP to 812-613-4387.


If you prefer to opt out of other offerings or by using other methods, we encourage you to change your text message preferences through our digital services (MyGMC, MyBuick, MyCadillac, MyChevrolet or my.gm.com (for the United States) or my.gm.ca (for Canada); or by visiting this page and selecting your brand to call us. You can also mail in your request to General Motors Company, ATTN: Revocation of Consent, P.O. BOX 33170, Detroit, MI 48232-5170. If you are in Canada, you can mail your request to General Motors of Canada Company, ATT: Revocation of Consent, Customer Care Centre #163-005, 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario, L1H 8P7. 

You acknowledge and agree that your request will be deemed revoked when received and processed and we will be unable to process your request if you fail to provide the correct telephone number(s).

OUR RIGHT TO TERMINATE. We reserve the right to unilaterally suspend or terminate Texting Services, in our sole discretion, and without any prior notice to you.

CHANGES TO TEXTING POLICY. We may revise this Texting Policy at any time by updating this posting. If you are enrolled in Texting Services, we will send a text message to note that the Texting Policy has been amended. If you continue to use the Texting Services following such notice, you thereby agree to the amended Texting Policy. Your sole remedy if you do not agree with a revised Texting Policy is to opt out.

CHANGES TO OUR TELEPHONE NUMBERS. We reserve the right to change and consolidate our associated telephone numbers (including short and long codes). If you do not agree to receive text messages from new telephone numbers, your sole remedy is to opt-out.
