Ken Morris is General Motors’ senior vice president of Product Programs, Product Safety and Motorsports. He leads the global team that oversees the vehicle and propulsion programs from inception to launch and beyond. Morris also oversees the team driving the company’s safety culture via vehicle safety performance, field investigations, systems engineering, program validation, and safety and emissions certification. In addition, Morris leads the Motorsports Competition team that develops and implements performance and strategy tools to assist GM branded teams in their success on the racetrack.
In his former role as vice president of the Global Vehicle and Propulsion Teams; Electric, Autonomous and Fuel Cell Vehicle Programs; and Global Product Programs, Morris led the teams responsible for EVs, internal combustion engine vehicles, autonomous vehicles, and their respective propulsion systems. Previously, Morris served as the vice president of Global Product Integrity, where he led the team that implemented system integration and oversight across vehicle and propulsion systems to deliver vehicles with consistent safety and compliance performance.
Morris’ core background is in vehicle development. He holds the highest GM driving certification available and has completed thousands of development laps at tracks like the Nurburgring in Germany, Virginia International Raceway, Road Atlanta and Road America.
A native of Indiana, Morris graduated from Purdue University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. Morris currently serves on the Purdue Mechanical Engineering Advisory Council, and previously was a member of the Purdue Engineering Advisory Council.
