David Richardson was appointed senior vice president of Software and Services Engineering in June 2024. He leads software engineering as the organization builds the future of connected vehicles. This includes embedded platforms, digital products, commercial solutions, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
Richardson joined GM in September 2023 as vice president of Software and Services and led Digital Products Engineering. In this role he oversaw the development and implementation of in-vehicle software and platforms, and services (such as OnStar and apps).
Prior to GM, he spent 12 years at Apple where he was an engineering leader responsible for driving innovation and efficiency in infrastructure for services including iCloud, FaceTime, and Siri. He was also co-founder and Chief Scientist at cloud computing company Skytap, and was a founding advisor for online marketplace Dibspace.
Richardson holds both a Ph.D. and a master's degree in computer science from the University of Washington.
