Christopher T. Hatto was named vice president, Global Business Solutions in January 2020. In this role, he manages a global team charged with optimizing GM business processes to improve service quality and customer experience and reduce complexity and costs.
In addition to this role, he remains chief accounting officer, a position he’s held since 2018. In this role, he is responsible for global leadership and oversight for external reporting, technical accounting matters, development of new accounting policies, internal controls and the consolidations process. He is also responsible for reporting financial results to the company’s senior leadership and the Board of Directors’ Audit Committee.
Hatto joined GM in 2007 as the assistant controller for Securities and Exchange Commission reporting. He then held subsequent regional controllership positions responsible for Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and General Motors International Operations. In 2013, Hatto became chief financial officer of Customer Care and Aftersales. In 2016, he joined U.S. Sales Operations as chief financial officer for U.S. Chevrolet, Buick and GMC.
Before joining GM, Hatto was a vice president at Goldman Sachs and the corporate controller and chief accounting officer at Tower Automotive. Earlier in his career he held financial leadership roles at Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen.
He graduated from Michigan State University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in accounting and is a certified public accountant.
