What We Do

Brownstown Battery Assembly Plant in Michigan opened in summer 2009 after a $43 million investment to manufacture lithium-ion battery packs. In 2018, Brownstown was part of an additional $100 million GM investment.

The plant has played a key role in bringing GM’s battery electric trucks to life having produced battery modules for vehicles like the GMC HUMMER EV and the Cadillac LYRIC.

It currently manufactures electric drive units and battery packs for the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, and battery packs for the Cadillac CELESTIQ. Brownstown also remains an important technical development site supporting future GM EVs.
