Building a stronger future together

General Motors is the largest automaker by volume in the U.S., with a customer base that reaches all 50 states and more than 70 countries. We are committed to building and selling the best vehicles on the market to everyone, everywhere. To deliver on this, we have built an inclusive culture where employees, customers, dealers, and suppliers of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities can fully participate in GM’s present and future.

Company of
firsts

Supporting a healthy ecosystem and strong local economies is critical to bringing our vehicles to a wide range of customers and GM has several “firsts” that reflect that:

Our people

Attracting and retaining the brightest talent to build great vehicles is critical to thriving in an increasingly competitive landscape. We bring together best-in-class talent from all backgrounds, identities, abilities, and geographies to innovate within an inclusive work environment.

GM Employees

Some examples include:

  • We enable our employees to perform at their best by providing customized learning enrichment programs, and a catalog of courses available globally.
  • We focus on skills-first hiring, skills training and have welcomed many individuals without four-year degrees.
  • We provide comprehensive and inclusive benefits, such as parental and health leave, to help our employees thrive.
  • We have a talent management system that underscores our commitment to high standards and enables our employees to perform at their best.

Creating an inclusive community

Our employee resource groups (ERGs) and external partnerships help foster community, provide learning and development opportunities, and are important as we look to drive sales in specific customer communities.

We have 12 ERGs globally, engaging over 42,000 unique team members around the world. All employees are welcome to join any group.
